It’s nice to go all out with a meal sometimes. It may be that you have guests to impress, or want to treat your family. Whatever the reason, a three-course meal can feel like a treat. That’s especially the case if meals are a fragmented affair in your house. And, let’s be honest; with kids, they usually are. Yet, three-course dreams are often dashed by time constraints. How can you achieve a culinary masterpiece when you don’t have time to slave in the kitchen all day? What if we were to tell you that it may not be such a hard goal to achieve? A little know how could have you knocking up three courses, no problem!
If you’re cooking for a special occasion, cooking in advance is essential. If you’re hosting a dinner party, you don’t want to spend the night in the kitchen. What would your guests think? Even if the meal is for your family, you want to be able to enjoy it with them. So, plan a meal you can make the day before. This also has the bonus of meaning you can avoid culinary disasters when you least need them. You’ll be able to cook your main meal without any pressure. Think of dishes like spaghetti bolognese, or chili. Something that you can make a big batch of, and keep in the fridge! These recipes may seem simple, but they’re safe bets. Most people enjoy them, and they’re not overly complicated!
KEEP STARTERS SIMPLE
You don’t have to over-complicate things when making a three-course meal. Intricate meal plans may look good on paper, but you’re giving yourself more work that way. Instead, realize that your starter can be as simple as you like. For the most part, this is to whet the appetite. People don’t want an intricate started that fills them before the main event. Find out how to make scrumptious soups, or look at something like prawn cocktail which doesn’t need cooking. As long as you ensure your food tastes great, no one is going to their nose up. And, perfect flavor combinations don’t need hours of work. All you need is some basic knowledge. You could make things even easier by turning to a tried and tested recipe. That way, you know how it tastes, and how to make it.
You can also save yourself a lot of stress by opting for a no-cook dessert. People aren’t going to want a stodgy cake after the first two courses anyway. No-cook desserts are lighter and so perfect for a three-course feast. Something like a chocolate tart, or a cheesecake, would be perfect. Or, you could try to make a chocolate moose if you wanted. These desserts don’t require as much effort, but they’re still delicious. And, you won’t have to worry about timing with these either. They’ll be in the fridge, waiting. This option also gives you the chance to prepare before guests arrive. It doesn’t get much better.
