I love recipes that are quick and easy and also kid friendly. These yummy sausage cheese balls I’m sharing today are something my mom used to make for me, my brother and sister when we were younger. She passed the recipe down to me and they’re a family favorite now.
I’ve made these for potlucks before and everyone’s asked me for the recipe. With less than 5 ingredients (3 if you don’t include water) it’s really simple to make. I usually serve them as an appetizer when we have parties but you could also serve them for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Sausage and biscuits can be served any time of the day, right?
- (2) Cups of Jiffy Buttermilk Biscuit Mix
- 1 Sausage Roll
- (2) Cups of Shredded Cheese
- Water (Approximately 1/4 Cup)
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Prepare a large baking sheet by coating it with cooking spray. I usually end up using 2 baking sheets because I can’t fit them all on one. You can also line the baking sheet(s) with tin foil first before spraying it for easier clean up.
Mix the first three ingredients together in a big mixing bowl. There will be left over biscuit mix on the bottom. Start adding water little by little until you’ve reached a good consistency and there’s no longer biscuit mix left over on the bottom of the bowl. Be careful not to add too much water though. You don’t want the mixture to feel gummy. It should look like a big blob of grossness. See picture below.
Roll the mixture into approximately 1 inch balls and place on the baking sheet(s) like so. Leave about an inch spacing between each ball as they will expand a bit.
Bake the sausage balls in the oven a 350 degrees for approximately 25 minutes or until golden brown. There shouldn’t be any pink in them. This recipe makes a little over 2 dozen sausage balls.
