Come Celebrate & Honor the Fallen in Downtown Milford

Parade, Sikorsky Blackhawk display, Military Flyover & More
Nearly 1,000 veterans representing generations of military service, from World War II to current conflicts in the Middle East will gather at American Legion Post 216 at 9:30 a.m. The parade is set to commence at 11 a.m. The parade will include the local police, fire departments, marching bands, scouting organizations and more and will travel east on Commerce Road, south on Main Street and will end in Milford’s Central Park where a brief ceremony and remembrance event will take place.
Adding to the day-long celebration, the community will enjoy viewing a Sikorsky Blackhawk helicopter provided by the Michigan Army National Guard Aviation Unit. The public is invited to see the helicopter up-close, meet the pilots and learn about the helicopter’s recent deployment and role in Afghanistan. Military flyovers will be made possible by the Selfridge Air National Guard Base , Yankee Air Museum and the U.S. Coast Guard Detroit and will feature more than 10 vintage and modern-day military airplanes, including: A-10 Jets, B-25 bomber, C-47 transport and AT-6 and SNJ single engine fighters.
Schedule of Events:
- Parade starts at 11 a.m.
- The Blackhawk helicopter is scheduled to land in Central Park’s baseball diamond around 9 a.m. and remain on static display throughout the day.
- A static display of military vehicles will be on Main Street from 10:30-11 a.m.
- Military flyovers will occur between 11 a.m. and noon.
American Legion Post 216 is located at 510 W. Commerce Rd. The parade will continue rain or shine, however, flyovers may be cancelled due to bad weather. There will be several photo ops available so be sure to bring your camera.
