I was hovering at the 300 pound mark two years ago. It’s been a little over a year and since I started getting serious about fitness and living a healthy lifestyle I have lost a total of 70 pounds.
You’re probably wondering what changes I’ve made and what I’ve done to keep it off and continue to lose. I started by ditching the soda. I quit drinking both regular soda and diet soda cold turkey 16 months ago. This was a huge obstacle to overcome. I replaced soda with water and unsweetened tea. I occasionally would have a sweet tea when I was craving it but tried to avoid the extra sugar intake.
When I had finally overcame that hurdle I slowly started changing my eating habits. I would skip the fries and chips and instead of having a 12 inch sub I would eat a 6 inch. I gave up fast food and started eating at Subway if I needed something “on the go”. I also started working out 4 days a week at the gym.
After losing so much weight I eventually hit a plateau. I started getting frustrated that it wasn’t coming off as quickly as it was in the beginning. The book, “10 Steps to your Faith Inspired Transformation” was really helpful when I was struggling. I dove into this easy to read book and was finished by the end of the week.
F.I.T is different from any other dieting or fitness book I’ve read in the past. It calls women who are struggling with their health and fitness to a Faith Inspired Transformation-shifting their focus from what the world says to what the Word of God says. Fitness expert, model, and writer Kim Dolan Leto provides the inspiration and practical tools necessary to live a healthy life that honors God and brings the lasting results we all crave. Only in Him do we find the strength to make good health a lifestyle.
The book is filled with encouragement, motivation, entwined Bible verses we can relate to and great food suggestions. Each chapter ends with reflection questions and strategies to help incorporate it into your life. I learned what to eat and what not to eat and what exactly a “God food” is. By shopping around the perimeter of the grocery store you will find your “God foods” such as milk, eggs, fruits, vegetables and meats.
This book encouraged me to change my thinking from “I can’t” to “I will” and learn to give it to God. If you think you can, you will achieve. Prayer is so powerful and God promises we can do all things through Him who strengthens us. Will you let him strengthen you?
