As a Cedar Point Blogger I was provided with a complimentary stay at Hotel Breakers and tickets to Cedar Point for me and my family. Regardless, all opinions are mine and are honest.
After a two-year transformation Hotel Breakers has officially opened to the public this May and I was one of the first guests to check it out. This charming waterfront hotel first opened its doors in 1905 as the “largest and greatest hotel on the Great Lakes.” Now in 2015 with a stunning transformation it’s what everyone in Sandusky, Ohio is talking about.
Hotel Breakers is located along the mile-long Cedar Point Beach right on Lake Erie. You literally walk the boardwalk to get to the park. You don’t even need to move your car.
“The transformation includes a new exterior, the modernized hotel, new entrance portal, classic interior finishes, newly-furnished and remodeled rooms with LCD TV’s, new furniture, bedding and décor, and many other amenities and offerings.
Additional enhancements include a new Starbucks and the Surf Lounge bar inside the famous rotunda, widened exterior green space with panoramic views of Lake Erie and an outdoor water play area with zero depth entry and splash features.
Hotel Breakers has two pools, two Jacuzzis, three restaurants, Starbucks, a gift shop, arcade and exercise room. We dined at Perkins and Fridays inside the hotel and had a pleasant experience at both of them. The food was great.
You can access the Cedar Point Beach and Boardwalk behind the hotel. We even went for an evening walk after dark and romped around on the beach and sat next to the fire pit.
Early Entry to the Park:
Staying at Hotel Breakers overnight gets you Early Entry access to the park and discounted Cedar Point admission tickets.
Sleeping Under Rollercoasters:
Me and Ashley were most excited about this one. The newly decorated headboards are awesome!
New Decorations and Designs:
Obviously a lot of thought and detail went into the design of the new hotel. Some of the walls are very impressive. There’s even a carousel horse in the lobby that makes a great photo op.
Did you know? Six U.S. presidents, including Franklin D. Roosevelt and Dwight D. Eisenhower have stayed at Hotel Breakers. How cool is that?

We had an amazing time at Hotel Breakers and Cedar Point. We’ll be back for sure!
