The Smoky Mountains is definitely one of my favorite places with approximately 521,085 acres and 816 square miles of land to explore in the states of Tennessee and North Carolina. With 8 to 10 million people visiting the Smokies every year it is the most visited national park in the country.
Lots of diverse plant and wildlife calls this place home including the American black bear. Approximately 1,500 bears live in the park, a density of approximately two bears per square mile. In Cades Cove we got to see some of the wildlife that live here on a auto tour. For this part of our adventure we went hiking near Sugarland’s Visitors Center. At the end of our hike we made it to Cataract Falls, one of the Smoky Mountains many waterfalls.
I made sure we weren’t on a time line so we had lots of time to explore. Here’s some pictures of our adventure through the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.
