Disclaimer: I was given tickets and meal vouchers for my family to enjoy Michigan’s Adventure for their first ever parent’s blogger day. No other compensation was given. All opinions are my own.
While looking for directions the night before I stumbled upon a really cool thing on Michigan’s Adventure website. They have detailed instructions on how to prepare kids with autism for their trip. Often times parents have lots of questions about bringing their kids on the autism spectrum to places they’ve never been or are unsure of.
I’m happy to report Michigan’s Adventure is great place to take children with autism. They carry special bracelets at guest services. TY was given a bracelet with his name and my cell phone number. If he was to wander, one of the specially trained employees would be able to locate him and safely reunite us.

What was the kids favorite ride?:
Kylie: Thunderhawk, Shivering Timbers
TY: Grand Rapids, Half Pint Paradise
LA: Grand Rapids, Shivering Timbers
JR: Mini Enterprise Helicopter, Beach Party
Fearless JR smirking on the Frog Hopper.
You can barely make out the girls here on Mad Mouse.
Bumper cars. JR’s afro puff just barely made the 48 inch mark.
Beach Party!! Such an exciting place. I would recommend Half Pint Paradise over Beach Party for children on the spectrum, which is less busy and less noisy. One thing Ty didn’t like was the barrel that kept overturning. On a positive note, it did have a bell that rang when it was getting close to tipping. He would know it’s time to move far from the barrel when that bell rang.
He was scared at first, but loved the slides once he took them for a test drive.
Big umbrellas kept us dry during the downpour we had while there. Luckily, no rides were shut down and the water park remained open.
The hubs took a ride with JR at the wheel, kind of scary.
JR’s first roller coaster, the Big Dipper.
Look who we saw while at Michigan’s Adventure!! It’s Snoopy and Charlie Brown!
Half Pint Paradise had this cool little cave the kids really enjoyed.
Me and the hubs relaxing while the kiddos enjoyed the water park.
Grand Rapids!! Super fun! This one left me and TY soaked! The water fall decided to hit us directly not just once, but twice. Do not ride the Grand Rapids right before you have to leave. If you decide not to take my advice (don’t say I didn’t warn you) you can take advantage of the family drier for five bucks. Yes, they have a giant drier you step right into. Fun times.
